Close to 25,000 Lost Power in Queensland and Victoria Following Severe Weather Systems
Approximately twenty-five thousand residences in Queensland's southeast woke up without power on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events impacted the region, generating strong winds topping 109km/h.
Large Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Damage
Locals reported large ice chunks as large as 7cm in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that different parts across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Emergency crews were working to restore energy supply throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews working to address the extensive power failures.
Southern State's Climate Difficulties
At the same time, approximately 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also experienced energy failures after Melbourne recorded its most precipitation in 18 months.
Emergency response teams responded to 598 emergency reports across the state, mostly for structural issues but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

At one point on Sunday, over twenty-eight thousand electricity consumers in Victoria were lacking electricity.
Climate Outlook
Damp conditions were predicted to continue along significant areas of eastern Queensland this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
The following day was forecast to be the wettest day, with ongoing storm activity expected across multiple regions of both states.
Safety Concern
Public health experts warned that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This alert comes after historical occurrences where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
